Flaunt it Fridays Turtle

Lucky for me I got Create a Critter for Christmas!!! So this was the first thing that I've done with my new cart!! One of our good friends found out they are expecting #2, so I made a card to send their way. I really wanted to try to do something that wasn't a card....but I was stumped with it being a turtle.....so I caved in and did the card :-) hope you like!!

Happy Crafting!

Sleigh Card

So this is my card for Flaunt it Fridays!! The challenge was to use a sleigh. I don't usually use a Sleigh in my Christmas stuff, I'm more of a snowflake girl, so this was good to get out of my zone. I used the Gingerbread Cart. It's so cute and I've seen such great projects with it. I wanted to stay away from reds and greens too, just to keep it fresh. I am also in love with the gem tones paper from Joanns, it can add alot to the right projects.

I used white gem tones paper for the base of the sleigh, with a dark blue outline. The patterned paper is from DCWV stack from last year. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks!

Crafting to the Rescue!!

Well it's bound to happen every time we put up decorations, something is going to break. As my husband was putting the topper on our tree this year (mind you the whole time this is going on I'm saying "be careful, be careful, be careful") there was a tumble down the tree.....and the crash of an ornament. When I went under the tree to survey the damage, I found one of my favorite ornaments, the Santa belly!! Remember now I'm still recovering from the BOX of Christmas decorations that the movers broke this year.....and now Santa Belly.

Cute right?? Thankfully it wasn't a sentimental ornament....but still one of my favorites.

Well once I started looking at it, I thought....hey, I could make that!!
So with a tube of red ornaments from the dollar section at Target, 2 pieces of felt, gold glitter glue, a white paint pen, and the hot glue gun I began!!
First I cut a strip of black felt to make the belt around his belly. Then I free handed a collar that matched the one from the original ornament. Once I had both of those the way I liked I hot glued them on. Then I made the belt buckle out of the glitter glue and added 3 white dots with the paint pen for the buttons.
Here is the finished product

I know the size of the ornaments are different, and the top of the new ornament is not frosted...but pretty good right?? here is the side my side

So my crafting has officially saved the day....my husband went on to break a tree topper and a plate that night.... he has been banned from touching anything breakable for the rest of Christmas!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Snowman Picture

So part of the fun in being married to the military is that every couple years (or less) you move to a new home and have to plan your decorations again., or you have to see what decorations have survived your last move. I had an entire box of decorations that bit the dust in our move across the country this time :-(
Well I said all that to say this..... now we have a half bathroom downstairs, so in my Christmas decorating I've been working on my bathroom. I'm going with a snowman theme. I got it all done and realized that my wall was lacking. I had a picture there for everyday, but it didn't really go with the snowman theme. Out comes the cricut and here's what happened!!

I started with an inexpensive 8.5x11 frame from Joann. This is a part of their LA Collection, which doesn't go on sale...but that means you CAN use a coupon on it... so next time you have a coupon and think everything in the store is on sale.....hit this up.

After the frame it's time for design and paper. Thankfully (haha) Joann was having a paper sale to help inspire me!! 5 for $.95!! So I got a couple different shades of blue to use for this project.

I got my DS out to design my snowman. I used Winter Frolic for the snowman. I cut him out in a pearlized white, then an orange nose, a blue patterned hat, and red scarf (both from my scrap stash). Once I had pieces cut out it was time to put it together.

Once I got him all mounted up and in the frame I thought that it needed a little more. So I added the words, then I had some foam snowflakes and used those to give it some more dimension.

It looks really good in my bathroom!! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!!
