A few new projects!

Well it's been an interesting 2 weeks. About 24 hours after my husband left for a training mission, I fell at work and broke my ankle :-( It's my right ankle so I can't drive and of course we have a two story house....it's been interesting to say the least. The only good thing about not being able to work and walk is that I have been spending time in my craft hole!! I've done some cleaning, card making and working on my scrapbook.

I ordered my first ever 2 sets of my pink stamper stamps!! Thankfully they came right before the injury so I've had them to play with!! They are so inspiring!! My grandad has been in the hospital so I used create a critter to make the Get Whale soon card...which I love. I used my pink stamper stamps and my sizzix texture boutique to swirl the whale. I love it!!

Then I made this Bee Mine card for valentines day. The Bee is from the Paisley cart, so cute...I'm falling in love with this cart. The stamp is a Heidi Grace that I got last year from Joanns. I think this one turned out pretty cute too!

The last one was inspired from my new sizzix texture plate that I got at Michaels. After I textured the paper I cut the heart from Home Accent Essentials. Who knew?? There are hearts on like all the carts....so take a look to see if you can find one.....

Hope you all have a great week!

New Vinyl Project

So I've been working on valentines day in the "craft whole". I stopped for a little while to work on this super cute vinyl project. One of my super sweet Navy Wife Friends is coming in town in a couple weeks so I thought this would be fun for her. As a military wife you are constantly making and taking something somewhere....and this way she will always be able to find her tray!!

I got the tray from hobby lobby (not new to me, but new to this area!!). It's was less than $3.00 over in the party section. I used my DS to get the sizing that I wanted on the D (opposites attract) and the anchor (stand and salute). After a test run on scrap paper I loaded up the vinyl. I get all my vinyl from craft vinyl.com. The color choices are AMAZING and they have great prices and customer service!!

After the vinyl pieces cut. I put the anchor on first. Then layered the D over the top of the anchor. I think it turned out pretty cute and I hope that she gets lots of use out of it. If you haven't tried vinyl yet....no excuse!! It's so much fun!!

More $9.99 Carts

So I had seen on a couple blogs that people had taken their Micheals ads to Wal-Mart and they price matched the Cricut Lite Carts. I thought that sounded like a good idea....but I don't know about your Wal-Mart but the ONE that we have in our town is a mad house and I avoid it at all costs.

Well one evening after work I was feeling brave and decided to stop in and give it a try. I went back to the craft area and picked up 4 of the lite carts that I wanted then headed up to customer service. After waiting in line 5-6 people deep it was my turn. I got my ad out and asked for the price match....they had to call a manger....but in the end...SUCCESS!!!

I got the four legged friends because it has a hamster on it and my mom loves hamsters, so I'm hoping to do some stuff for her. I've already used lacy labels and Celebrate with Flourish for Valentines day stuff.

Joanns started their Winter Warmup sale today. Paper is 5 for .95 and all their paper goods are 40% off so I'll probably head out their tomorrow. I'm gearing up now for the hubbs to go on a training mission for the next 2 weeks or so. I see lots of chick flicks and crafting in my future!!

Have a great week!

New Loot and A Quick Card

I love Fridays!! Fridays are "my" day. I don't work, and I try to get all my chores done during the week so that I can spend all day doing what I want.....even if that means spending the day on the couch catching up on DVR :-).

Today was a crafting day!! I started by going to Michael's!! I took a few pics of what I found. They still had alot of Christmas had mine so I picked up these really cute felt bags for $0.49 each!

I also found a 50 pack of green and red blank cards 70% off and a 4pk of smooch glitz spray in holiday colors!!

Next I hit up the dollar bins, I found some really cute sparkle glue, gem stones and pearls!! So cute. Bright spring colors!! I love it!!

I found these plain white monogram hat hooks. I got an S for me and a K for a friend to decorate!! I think these will be SO cute all done up!!

Next was the scrapbooking aisles. All the Michael's brand embellishments were 50% off!! So I got some really cute heart brads, as well as some cute bright brads and eyelets.

I was on the stamp aisle and they had a ton of their clear stamps on clearance....out with the old in with the new. I got two packs for less than $5.00. 1 valentines day set and 1 baby set, a have a couple friends that will be having babies in the new year, so I wanted to be ready for that!! It's a generic set too so they will work with boys or girls!! :-)
Best of all.....are you ready for this.... $9.99 CRICUT CARTS!!! Mine still had some left, but not too many. I was able to find one that I wanted...Simply Sweet. The others were either gone or not ones that I wanted. I even called my mom and made her go to her Micheal's to see what they had.....no luck....but I'm going to try a different Micheal's tomorrow :-)

I was then inspired by my new purchases to come home and make some cards!! This one is pretty simple, but cute. My grandad grows tomatoes every year and I found an article the other day on tomato gardens so I cut it out and am going to send it to him....with this card. I used Walk in my garden for the dirt and sign. I distressed the sign with Tim Holtz ink to rough it up a bit. I realised after I got started that I didn't have a cart that will cut tomatoes....so I used sparkles instead....still cute!! I think he'll like it.

Well still some time left tonight, I'm going back in my craft hole to see if I can get some Valentines stuff done!!

Happy Crafting!!

I hope you are all having a wonderful new year!! More importantly, getting to enjoy all those new Christmas goodies before the real world calls us back on Monday! I know that I have been playing with my new toys and have been putting a dent in all my gift cards. Santa was good to me this year.....and the hubs has been good to take me out shopping a couple days!

I have been working on my craft new years resolutions and here is what I have come up with:
1) Keeping my craft area clean. My craft room is in my laundry room and there were times during Christmas that I had to put off laundry because I had crafty goodness all over the place. I didn't have an issue with this....my hubby did.....

2) Trying to use up the rest of my 8.5 x 11 paper. I started scrapbooking over 10 years ago now, and when I did 8.5 x 11 was the paper size to use. I still have a 3" binder full of paper and I would like to finish using that up.

3) Post to my blog 2 times a week. Hopefully this will keep me a little more motivated to finish projects in a timely manner :-)

4) Submit to be on a Design Team....and getting on one would be an added bonus!!

5) Complete challenges on a challenge blog. I have already started this with Flaunt it Fridays!! So far I have done all the challenges (except one over Christmas) and I love it!!
I'm going to type these up and keep them in my craft room to help keep me motivated!!

On to my project. This one was to do with resolution 2. The patterned paper in the background is 8.5 x 11. The bird and the "Your a Hoot" on the inside are both from "Straight from the Nest" The hubby got this for me right after thanksgiving....and since I have been all tied up in my Christmas carts this is one like the 2nd time I've used this. It's super cute and with spring coming up I think It will be used alot!!

I don't think the colors came out to well in these pics, but they are pinks and purples in the pattern paper all mounted on a dark purple card.

I found some great stuff at Target this weekend and will post about that next!! So make sure you check back soon!!
