So I stole and modified this idea from the Halloween Taste of Home Magazine. Their cover showed these really cute rice krispy treat pumpkin pops.....Mine turned out a little different, but were eaten just as quick.
The original picture had these babies on sticks...which was the goal when I started. But after I made them and poped the stick in the weight of the rice krispys made them slide down the stick and start to break apart....not so cute. So I re-molded them and put them in a tray, they looked like a pumpkin patch.
As far as decorating them...again some modification based on what I could find. I used Tootsie rolls cut in half as the stems, they too where a bit heavy and I had to cram them in the pumpkins to make them stay. They used airheads to do their steams...all I could find was a huge pack, that was mixed colors, for more than I wanted to spend for 3 packs of green candy. So I got Giant Lifesaver Gummies and cut them in 4th and "glued" them in with a little orange frosting.
I highly recommend these. They are pretty easy, and super tasty. I great spin on a classic treat! Halloween is on Sunday and I'm super excited. I have a pretty spooky menu planned, so check back to see how that goes :-) have a safe and happy Halloween!
